Every since the pandemic I’ve been work from home, out of Henderson. One of the things that I miss is Gary’s driving over in Owensboro. I know it’s not that far, but when you work there it’s a lot easier to go there. Gary’s has one of the best burgers in Owensboro. Just be prepared you will wait a little while while they prepare your food but when it comes out it is hot! So don’t get all upset about the time it takes. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes which were cooked perfectly and had just a Lotta flavor. Cheese sticks I mean who messes up cheese sticks. Well some people do and you know that’s true! But Gary’s did not. But the burgers! That’s where it’s at. They have inside and outside dining, and also a drive-through if that’s what you want. If you’re looking for a really good drive-in food experience, and Gary’s is the place to go.
It's a great little place with a larger menu than you might think. The burger was delicious, the tots were good, and the service was friendly. Local shop with hot food and less expensive than McDonald's really.
Owensboro friends and visitors, don't sleep on this wonderful find! Drive through, eat in or outside picnic area. I usually go for the burger, tots, and milk shakes. Tuesday, I tried breakfast! I went through the drive through, the sign lets you know your food is cooked to order and may take a little longer. The person who took my order also cooked it, bagged it and gave it to me through the second window (she was fantastic at every level of service). She let me know the hash browns were home cooked when I ordered the sandwich (which I did place on my sandwich later). Plus I ordered sliced tomatoes. She offered a choice of meats and breads. I chose bacon and bun. When she handed me my food she let me know she packed ketchup, salt & pepper plus serving wear. When I got to work and unpacked, everything was still hot. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and fully cooked and tender on the inside. The potatoes fit perfectly in the sandwich. The sandwich had a soft fluffy bun, thick crispy bacon, a perfectly cooked fried egg, and a slice of cheese. I topped the sandwich with ketchup. The sandwich is delicious! I ate half and it perfectly got me through a busy morning at the shoppe. Plus held me over until I was able to eat the other half for my late lunch. I appreciate the convenience of the drive through, even with the wait; the foods worth it.
This is not a fast food joint. Every order is cooked to order, and is worth the wait! They have been doing this for quite a while, so they definitely know what they are doing. The peanut butter shake is delicious! Great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And an even better place to catch up with old friends. Oh, and the ice in their drinks is the good kind that you won't just find anywhere else!
Such a great little hidden gem. One of the best burgers, and milkshakes I've had. Sherry, the owner was very pleasant and welcoming. A MUST try if you're in the mood for a burger. Highly recommend
I enjoy a good burger from local eateries. A nice dive. This is what I got. I ordered a burger and onion rings. It delivered. The employees were so helpful as well. I see why this place is busy all the time. Definitely stop in. It's good on all fronts.
Got the Burger Week burger. It was really good! The coffee rub, sauce, and slaw really added flavor, and the patty itself was solid. Definitely one of the more creative and interesting options. Had tots on the side, they were nice and crunchy without being burnt or losing the potato. Sweet tea was perfect. All the employees were very nice. The inside of the restaurant is small but cozy. For how busy they were, they got the food out in good time. I'd definitely go back!
